post SAGADA Story

May 6, 2009

Weeks before Holy week fellas and I are thinking where to spend our Holy week vacation. After hours of discussion and internet searching finally we all agreed to spend it in Sagada. I’ve been to Sagada of May of 2006 with my 3 friends. I find the place remote, exotic and yet beautiful, in fact this is one of the place I fell in love with. So when Sagada is the final place to visit I have no second thoughts and immediately said yes.

The day has come; our plan is to leave La Union holy Thursday but Kim and I decided to get in baguio Wednesday night  to avoid the hassle and to make sure we would be able to catch the 530a.m. trip. So there I was took a halfday leave and start packing my things. We left La Union 3pm/Wednesday.

BAGUIO

Exactly 5pm..we were in baguio and we went straight to the DANGWA station to make sure if there’s available trip goin to sagada during Holy Thursday. An old man attended to us and assured us as well that there would be a trip goin in there the following day…so I was still right from the last time I wen to sagada..only good Friday is red day.

Next STOP: LA TRINIDAD

I suggested kim that we might as well stay in a very affordable place for overnight. And I brought her in GLADIOLA INN. It is located in La Trinidad Benguet, owned and managed by the Benguet State University. We ended up getting a room for us..for only…350, two beds, own washroom..yes folks you’ve read it right…for ONLY 350.00…it sometimes we can make things possible with charm..and BRAIN..hahahaha..right kim?

We took a short break then decided to get back in baguio for dinner and some coffee. La Trinidad is 20mins from Baguio City. Due to budget constraints, we look for resto that would fit our budget. While roaming around session we finally found JACK’s, an original baguio resto that serves a very affordable foods and yum yum as well.

After dinner comes the urge of few bottle of beer and to get online tru wi-fi as well. So we ended up at JECKO’s, still along session.  We were there until 9pm and desperately trying to connect on their free wi-fi service but it really sucks! We’ve been collaborating on where to go next..a place where we can really have a free wi-fi service..isnt it obvious that were really addicted to the net? Hahaha..and so we decided to have a coffee at VENIZ HOTEL and resto. Thank gooooooooooood!!..theirs is serving us sooooo well.and so we got online, starting talking with friends over ym..wala munang pakialamanan!

12mn we left Veniz Hotel and we decided to go back in GLADIOLA. Smoke.chitchat.shower.sleep. wake up call tom: 4am

THURSDAY

While in the middle of a tiiiiiiiight sleep my phone is tryin to wake me up..arrrrgghhh alarm alarm alarm at 4am! Get up.took a shower and went straight to the bus terminal.

We were there exactly 5:15am and oh boooyy andameng pasahero…mostly mga turista din talaga. Waaaaaaaa..why does this people have a same idea as ours where to spend holyweeeekk damnet! While on cue, there was this foreigner after us, getting in sagada alone. I made kim convinced to talk with him since we need fellas to share with us in paying tour guides at sagada..and hola…they were friends!. Yippee! I came to know his name was MILES from Los Angeles, 29 years old. To cut the story short..Miles went first and took his chance to get in there first while this people was getting crazy to get in the first bus that arrived..nasira ang pila.nagsiksikan sila na parang suman sa bus.So nauna nga ang kumag samen.

We reach Sagada around 11:30 in the morning.

NICE TO BE BACK..SAGADA

So its nice to be back in SAGADA…nothin’s new aside from the construction of some INNS in there..ala na ung kinakainan nameng matandang babae that serves truly masarap na chiken with vegetables. So I was the tour guide of kim while in there. Showing her around the place and getting familiarize with it. We took a room for us which is 250/head, shared washroom, and the same INN we have had during the first time I was there. We unpacked our things and I went down first to have smoke until a familiar face is approaching the door of our inn..my gaaaahd…it was MILES! So he probably noticed me and ask me if I was the one he met that early morning in the bus station and I said yes. The conversation started in there..and with my evil scheme…I asked him if he would want to join us for the caving and some adventures and we’ll just share the payment…hehehee..he said yes. He’ll meet us after lunch and we shall start the caving. And kim came to me and I informed her that I was able to talk with his crush and agreed to go with us for the tour..oh boy..kim was tooooo excited about it. We had lunch in a resto or should I say local kainan and served us chicken and pork adobo.

After lunch we went straight at the municipal hall to checked MILES for the tours..and there he was waiting for us. We agreed to take to CONNECTING CAVE TOUR. He came in wearing a sneakers..the whattt????you’ll be goin to the cave wearing a sneakers? cmon u must be kiddin me! Go and buy flip flops man!

CONNECTING CAVE TOUR

It was a gloomy afternoon. We were walking with the tour guide and kim and miles were starting talking as if the knew eachother so well…ohh well..fine..gettin to know eachother!

After some sort of briefing from the tour guide we started gearing up.it was same cave tour I had before but this is far way longer walk.it took as like 3hours walk and for sure kim and miles were havin hard time doin it, exactly the same experience I have had back then.

Adventures.adventures. and more adventures.

We took off from the cave like 4p.m. and we were so tired. It was raining. And we finally say goodbye to MILES. But miles asked us if we could join him for a coffee after shower or so..or maybe dinner. We were left no choice than to say yes since he’s cool to be with anyway. So after shower all met again and have coffee…chats..museum visit.. roaming around the place.

2nd DAY: BIG FALLS TOUR

The same group. KIM, ME, MILES. But it needs 11 person to complete the tour to pay the 1,800. So from there we meet new friends, couples but we were more close to these couples namely DRA. JANE CARIAS and KUYA MANDO. Ambabait nilang magsyota..they let us join them for some pictures….they’ve been using nice quality of camera so we asked them to send us copies for as soon as they get back in manila. Of curse Miles also took pictures of us using his canon camera. We gain friends. We were able see the big falls and it was worth it walking like an hour to just get in there. We also learned that dra. And boyfriend will be going back to baguio same day were getting back so usap kame na kita kita nalang kames ng maaga para whoever ang mauuna samen ay magparesrve nalang ng seat for the 4 of us.

We finally sau goodbye to MILES that night.we had coffee again. He will be leaving too sagada on that same morning but hell go straight to  BONTOC and BANAUE to see the rice terraces and get a bus in there goin back to manila.

Haaaaysss..it was a tiring trip but we had fun.we gain friends. Experiences..its worth spending the money.
